Pioneer Works

This work was on show from July 2017 until December 2020.

Patterns from China, Islamic world, Portugal and Ghana.
Blue and white in different cultures, the Silk Road and the Atlantic Trade.
One Adinkra symbol, the only non blue pattern from the entire composition: Futunfunefu Denkyemfunefu, symbol of democracy and unity. It portrays two Siamese crocodiles that share one stomach, yet they fight over food.

Cultural exchange through out history - powerful, necessary, yet far from being a peaceful process.
